Get Moving with the World’s First Caffeinated Toothpaste

Worried your morning coffee is ruining your teeth, but can’t give up your daily caffeine? Well, worry not! The world’s first caffeinated toothpaste is here! According to a recent article from the Dental Tribune, a U.S. startup has just launched Power Toothpaste, which promises the give you a little boost of energy during your morning dental hygiene routine. The American Dental Association claims that nearly 50% of Americans don’t brush the recommended twice daily. In an effort to improve that statistic, the creators hope that their new product will motivate millions to get up and get brushing.

Dan Meropol, the founder of Power Toothpaste, teamed up with his friend to develop the idea after learning of the poor oral hygiene habits of Americans and seeing a need for a product that could help.

“I began thinking about how I could change this and spoke with my friend Ian, who had been thinking about how awful his mornings are. He immediately suggested a caffeinated toothpaste.”

Without a dental background, the inventor worked with a number of dentists and manufacturers in the United States throughout the process. After the duo developed the formula, their friends and family tested it out, reporting wonderful results. Following more manufacturing development, the product is now ready to launch.

Coffee has been a longtime favorite of consumers for the pick-me up so many need to get going in the morning. But did you know it can take up to an hour to fully absorb through the stomach? Power Toothpaste is absorbed through the gingiva immediately, providing a quick boost of energy, according to the inventors. It also won’t stain your teeth like coffee will. A win-win in my opinion.

The caffeinated toothpaste contains the same ingredients as other brands, including glycerin, sorbitol, silica, water, xylitol, calcium carbonate, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, xanthan gum, menthol, and sodium citrate. It will help remove plaque and prevent tartar buildup like the others too.

“At Power Toothpaste, we believe that oral care hasn’t been exciting for decades and the products that big toothpaste companies are offering just aren’t good enough. Our mission is to make oral care fun and exciting again and, above all else, to get people brushing,” Meropol said.

The toothpaste will be launched on January 19, 2016 through a crowdfunding campaign on indiegogo.com. More information can be found on the company’s website, www.powertoothpaste.com.
