New 2-in-1 Toothbrush is First of Its Kind

Do you struggle with flossing regularly? A startup company out of Virginia may have the convenient solution you’re looking for. After developing its product over the last two years, Flossy Brush has just launched a new 2-in-1 dental cleaning tool, combining a manual toothbrush on one end with a flossing instrument on the other. As the first oral hygiene tool of its kind, the company claims to remove significantly more plaque than a regular toothbrush alone.

According to a recent article from the Dental Tribune, the Flossy Brush boasts an ergonomic design that is curved and flexible to work comfortably in most mouths. The brush features ultrasoft bristles with a tapered tip to reach below the gum line. Tynex bristles, which are soft and rounded, are also available. The integrated floss holder works with any floss type and claims that the replacement of floss is both simple and quick. The tool is available in a variety of colors for $7.99.

“Flossy Brush is not just another toothbrush. It is far more effective at removing plaque and simple and convenient to use,” said Dr. Zoltan Rusznak, CEO of Flossy Brush. “Our aim is to sell this widely in the US market, and as we grow, expand into European and Japanese markets,” he added.

Both the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) claim that interdental cleaners are an essential part of oral hygiene. It is recommended to brush twice a day for two minutes each time and floss between the teeth daily in order to prevent oral issues, such as periodontal disease. Despite these recommendations, a 2016 study found that about ⅓ of all adults in the United States do not floss.
