Are Your Dental Benefits Going to Waste?

It never fails.  As soon as Halloween is over, the remainder of the year seems to fly by.  I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is next week and there are only 34 days until Christmas! With all of the family get-togethers, shopping trips, holiday parties, and community events, this time of year always seems so hectic, but fun and special at the same time.  It’s very easy to get wrapped up in all of the festivities, but as 2013 draws to an end, there are some important details that shouldn’t get lost in the shuffle.  For example, did you know that most insurance plans run on a calendar year policy? This means that benefits start in January and end in the December of that same year.  Any unused benefits do NOT roll over, so if you don’t use them all, you lose them.  In other words, if you carry dental insurance but haven’t visited your dentist in awhile, NOW IS THE TIME!

The American Dental Association recommends that in order to achieve and maintain good oral health, individuals should brush twice a day, for at least two minutes, with a fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, and visit the dentist bi-annually for a professional cleaning and exam.  Not only does this keep your smile looking bright and white, by actively participating in a dental hygiene routine, you significantly reduce the chance of developing oral disease, such as periodontal disease.  Recent research has linked periodontal disease to other chronic health conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, dementia, and some forms of cancer.  If the financial aspect of using your dental insurance benefits isn’t motivation enough, hopefully your health is!

Miami Dental Sedation Spa accepts a number of dental insurance plans as well as several payment methods.  12 month interest-free financing is also available.  Don’t let your unused dental benefits go to waste! Call or email us today!
