ADA Website Receives High Honors

The American Dental Association’s (ADA) consumer website, MouthHealthy.org, recently won the bronze award in the website category in the Association TRENDS 2012 All-Media Contest, according to an ADA News article (“MouthHealthy.org named among “most creative communication vehicles”).  The website was chosen from more than 420 entries in the annual competition that recognizes creative and effective communication mediums in the industry.  The gold award went to ThisWayToCPA.com from the American Institute of CPAs, and the silver prize went to AssociationsNow.com from The Center for Association Leadership.

The unique website was launched earlier this year and was the topic of two of my previous blog posts (Buenas Noticias! New ADA Website Available in Spanish and Poor Oral Health Knowledge Leads to New ADA Website).  The site strives to provide the most current information available in order to help patients make the most informed choices about their oral health.  Content is provided by credible sources and includes topics such as prevention, care and treatment.  Information is broken down by age group, including a special section designed specifically for kids that offers engaging and motivating videos and games.  The site was launched simultaneously as the release of an ADA study, showing a low level of oral health education among Americans.  And, in an effort to reach as much of the U.S. population as possible, the site is available in Spanish, the country’s second most common language.  Many would agree that the key to combating the growing dental crisis in America is through educating as many as possible about the importance of oral hygiene and the necessary steps in achieving and maintaining a high level of oral health.
