Procedures
IV Sedation
IV sedation is for the high fear patient. This type of sedation can only be offered by dentists trained and licensed in the state of Florida for conscious sedation. Some patients with long dental appointments also opt for this type of sedation to make the appointments more pleasant. The licensed dentist has more control with the IV route than with the oral sedation delivery. Medicines are delivered through an IV line placed in the arm. Dr. Sanchez has sedated many patients that travel from central and south Florida. A comprehensive exam is necessary previous to the sedation appointment to determine dental needs and medical status of each patient.
Oral Sedation
Pills are taken orally to relief light to severe fear and anxiety in patients. Any dentist is able to prescribe these medications as long as they follow the strict guidelines set by the American Dental Association. The patient gets to be in a very relaxed state during the dental procedures.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers, as part of esthetic dentistry, can reshape, rejuvenate, and whiten smiles through the use of very thin porcelain bonded to teeth.
Smile Analysis
The dictionary defines art as “the quality production, expression according to esthetic principles of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance.” It also defines art as “the principles or methods governing any craft or branch of learning.” These explanations clearly define esthetic dentistry. A smile analysis takes into account the amount of teeth showing, their shape, shade, position, the smile arch, midline and other determinants of beauty. This information is then used to treatment plan an esthetic case.
Trial Smile
Temporary material is placed on the teeth to determine the best fit and shape of a future esthetic reconstruction. The patient is able to see and feel the future restorations.
Tooth Sculpting
The demand for esthetics in restorative dental materials has risen dramatically in the last few decades. Some patients even want their molar restorations to resemble natural tooth structure rather than being fabricated from gold or silver. Resin composite, bonding, provides the best combination of physical properties and esthetic results of all restorative materials other than porcelain. Bonding is used in the front teeth to close gaps, remove stains, repair broken or chipped teeth and reshape crooked or misaligned teeth. Bonding is used in molars to replace old silver fillings and to restore decayed dental surfaces. Dr. Sanchez performs tooth sculpting to achieve a more natural smile. Tooth sculpting involves selecting the appropriate material and shade with an artistic placement and finishing. The final product is a tooth or molar with no visible restoration.
Porcelain Crowns
The ability to use an esthetic, all-ceramic material for posterior and anterior restorations has been a long-standing goal in the dental profession. The popularity and trend of performing esthetic procedures has brought in a more demanding and sophisticated clientele. Porcelain crowns restore teeth with materials that mimic tooth structure in shape, function, and esthetics as well as translucency. Dr. Sanchez has over ten years experience with porcelain crowns. He is aware that a dentist’s restoration can only look great as long as is done by a great lab ceramist. Dr. Sanchez’ ceramist is a German trained Master Dental Technician. This certification is only awarded after five years of intensive training. Mr. Azzaretto shares Dr. Sanchez’ ideals of beauty and natural replication in all dental restorations.
Whitening Over-The-Counter
Most of these products are safe and can be effective if used long enough. The concentration of whitener in them is low in order to make them safe. They work well but require more use to produce the desired effect.
Take Home Bleaching
Is a dentist-supplied product that contains a higher concentration of hydrogen peroxide and will work quicker than over-the-counter products. The patient has impressions of his or her mouth taken. Thin custom trays are fabricated to fit over the teeth. The appropriate bleaching gel is supplied to the patient with instructions on how to use it and for how long.
Zoom
Is a whitening procedure done at the dental office. The active ingredient in these products is a very high concentration of hydrogen peroxide. It is activated by light after taking special precaution to maintain the product on the teeth, away from the gums. The procedure lasts about an hour.
Power Bleaching
Is a combination of the Zoom and the Take-home bleaching procedures. The patient, after the Zoom procedure at the office, receives custom trays with bleaching gel to continue the treatment at home for the deepest bleaching possible. The patient will also receive a desensitizing rinse or a fluoride gel to minimize any discomfort.
Sealants
The most common spot to get cavities in children is in the grooves of the chewing surfaces of the tooth. These grooves can be sealed with a synthetic coating to help prevent cavities.
Fluoride Vanish
Is a thin coating of resin containing fluoride that dentists apply to the surfaces of the teeth to protect them from decay. It has a higher concentration of fluoride than gels, foams, rinses, and pastes, but it is less toxic to children because less of the product is swallowed during application.
Prophylaxis
Is a ‘cleaning’ done to prevent diseases of the gums. This ‘cleaning’ is usuall y done twice a year to patients free of gum disease.
Exam
Do you remember the first time you went out in a date? Hopefully it was a time spent introducing yourself and getting to know the other person. Dr. Sanchez wants to treat each patient as an individual. We do not treat mouths, we treat individuals. Each one of us has different backgrounds and goals we want to achieve. The exam is a co-discovery for both Dr. Sanchez and his patient. It might entail radiographs, pictures, clinical evaluation, cancer screening and some others, but the most important thing is the time spent together getting to know each other. Come and experience the difference!
Radiographs
Our office uses digital radiographs. This allows us to minimize your exposure to radiation by 90%. We are also helping the environment by not utilizing harsh chemicals that need to be discarded constantly.
Cancer Screening
Oral cancer is one of the most curable diseases when it’s caught early. The
Miami Dental Sedation Spa uses Vizilite Plus to screen oral cancer. It is
a very simple technology that assists in the early detection of oral abnormalities.
The patient rinses with a cleansing solution and then the mouth is examined
under a specially designed light. The procedure is completely painless,
quick and effective.

Root Canal Treatment
Severe decay affects the tooth pulp. This is where the dental nerve and blood channels reside inside each tooth. When the pulp is affected and the tooth can be restored there is a need for a root canal treatment. This treatment involves the removal of the pulp, cleansing of the canals and their obturation.
Modern dentistry allows us to accomplish this treatment in one office visit most of the time. Do not hesitate and wait worrying about getting a root canal. Our office has all the comforts and amenities you need. Remember that Dr. Sanchez can sedate you for all your procedures.
Implants
Missing teeth, either by accident, dental decay, or congenitally missing can be replaced by introducing a titanium implant in the bone and placing a crown to restore function, occlusion and esthetics. Implants can also be used in bigger restorative cases in combination with multiple single crowns, bridges and removable prosthetics like partials or dentures.
Modern dentistry allows us to replace missing teeth with implants without having to wear down adjacent teeth for a fixed bridge. In most cases, implants are the best choice to replace teeth.
Bridges
Missing teeth can be replaced by attaching a bridge to adjacent teeth. Example, if there is only one tooth missing, a bridge will consist of three joined crowns with the outer crowns cemented to the adjacent teeth of the missing tooth. This is the best choice to replace teeth when an implant is not recommended, like in low quality or insufficient bone in the area of the implant.
Partial And Full Dentures
The sight of metal clasps is something of the past!
Modern Flexi partials have all acrylic materials, including the clasps. A beautiful smile can be restored with unnoticeable partials. This option to replace missing teeth is the fastest and most inexpensive, without limiting the high esthetics.
Full dentures can be combined with implants to obtain retention and stability. Patients are able to enjoy eating again and gain independence from the adhesive glues and powders.
Nitrous Gas
Nitrous oxide gas (laughing gas) is used with patients who have light to medium fear and anxiety of dental treatments. This procedure has being safely used for over a century. The patient is able to go home by themselves since the effects are vanished a couple of minutes after the removal of the nasal mask.
Periodontal (Gum) Treatment
Periodontal disease leads to tooth loss. Some signs of periodontal disease could be painful gums, bleeding during brushing, flossing or with applied pressure, pus, abscess, red and swollen gums, tooth mobility, bone loss, increased depth of periodontal pockets, and change of bite or occlusion. Some patients with the disease do not experience pain; therefore they do not seek help. A thorough evaluation takes into consideration the status of the gums. Dr. Sanchez and his staff help their patients maintain their teeth with comprehensive periodontal treatments that may involve specialists in the field.
Extraction
Considered a last resort, extractions are done in our office with a restoring plan to follow. This plan may involve implants, fixed bridges, and or removable bridges.
